The Kamloops Junior Blazers Hockey Development Program is excited to offer our Fall Power Skating and Goalie Training sessions for the upcoming season.
This will be the first in a series of high intensity clinics for the NOVICE DIVISION (2012 - 2011 born players).
The Fall session will run Mondays from 3:15pm - 4:15pm at the NHL arena at Mac Park.
Session will run Sept 23 - Dec 16. There will be no sessions on Oct 14 (Thanksgiving), October 28, Nov 11 (Remembrance Day) or December 2
Michelle Pepin will again head these sessions as our head power skating coach... and we are excited to add goalie training sessions with Lucas Gore/Michael Hails this season.
About the coaches:
Michelle joined us from the lower mainland where she was the head power skating coach at the Richmond Olympic Oval and Richmond Minor Hockey where she created the "STRIDE" Power Skating Program. As our Power Skating coach, Michelle exposes our players to a number of styles and techniques all designed to provide them with the knowledge and tools to become the best skaters they can be.
Lucas Gore is our head goalie coach for Kamloops Minor Hockey. Lucas grew up playing minor hockey in Kamloops before advancing to the Vernon Vipers in the BCHL followed by three seasons for the Chilliwack Bruins in the WHL. He then attended business school at the University of Regina for 4 years while laying CIS hockey and finished off in the East Coast Hockey League in the 2014/2015 season before becoming a goaltending coach. Lucas has worked with the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL, Prince George Spruce Kings in the BCHL and the Thompson Blazers in the BCMML in addition to numberous other goalie coaching positions. Lucas was also recently added as a goaltending consultant for the Spokane Chiefs in the WHL for the 2019-2020 season.
Michael Hails joins our team this season as well to assist with our goaltending training. Michael has played at the highest levels within his age group. He has won numerous team titles and individual awards, culminating with a hockey scholarship at Lindenwood University where he played Division 1 in the ACHA for the Lindenwood Lions and won a National Championship in 2016. Coach Michael is a life long learner and player of the goalie position, having committed to the position at the age of six. Michael’s commitment has never waivered and is stronger today than ever. Michael brings this commitment to every part of the position, the game, and especially students, equally on and off the ice. Over the past ten years while advancing his own playing career, Michael has been coached at and has coached with the David Marcoux School of Goaltending, and with Gold in the Net.
We will be starting a new series of high intensity power skating clinics for the NOVICE DIVISION (2011 - 2010 born players) for the winter session as follows:
The cost for these sessions will be $265.00
In order to maintain the highest level of integrity in the program and maximize player development in these sessions, class size will be limited to a maximum of 16 skaters on the ice for the power skating sessions with Michelle and 4 goalies in the goalie clinic.
As class size is limited and a high demand is expected for these sessions, registration will be on a first come basis. Registration fees must be paid prior to the first ice session, or your spot will be given to the next participant on the waitlist.
In order for the goalie training sessions to proceed, we will need to secure 4 goalies to participate.
Players must be registered with a minor hockey association and belong to a sanctioned BC Hockey/Hockey Canada program to participate.
In you would like to participate in the sessions, please complete the registration form below.
Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email and link to the on line payment portal for the registration fees.
